Samsung has announced that they’ve developed its Near Field Communications (NFC) chip with embedded flash memory. The chip scheduled for mass production in 2011, is an advanced NFC chip that boasts a low power design with advanced RF sensitivity.
The chip is apt for smartphones and consumes very less power in both active and standby mode. It consumes 20 percent less power and also remains active if the phone runs out of battery.
The embedded flash memory allows to upgrade the chip’s firmware. For a product’s faster time-to-market, Samsung is also providing a software protocol stack and tools for antenna design and tuning.
In addition to initiate contactless payments, Samsung’s NFC Chip are also capable to read RFID tags.
