Samsung Nexus S

UPDATE: Carphone Warehouse has also revealed the Nexus S pricing. It will retail for 549GBP sim-free. Full pricing details here.

Google has officially unveiled the Nexus S running the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. It will be the first Android 2.3 device and will be released unlocked or locked with T-Mobile in the US on December 16. The unlocked variant will go for $529 whereas the contractual version will sell for $199.

Specs-wise, Nexus S is similar to Galaxy S with few new features like the 4-inch Super AMOLED contour display with curved glass screen, 5MP camera with LED flash and Near Field Communication (NFC) support.

Other than that, the phone has a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, Quad-band GSM / tri-band HSPA, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS, 720p HD video playback, 16GB internal memory and 1500mAh battery.

In addition to US, UK citizens will also get the device from December 20 via Carphone Warehouse.

I remember when the galaxy S phones were being released and I defended Samsung saying that they had learned their lesson. All this gingerbread news is just making me and I’m sure other galaxy S users depressed/pissed. I’m never buying a Samsung phone again.
