Samsung today announced the winners of the global bada Developer Challenge on the eve of bada OS’ one year anniversary. The challenge that ran from May till December of this year saw 2,077 teams from 54 different countries competing with each other.
Amongst all the applications submitted, Samsung selected only 34 apps from devs and the prize money of US$2.7m will be distributed amongst them. Additionally, all the winning apps will receive marketing support from Samsung to promote their app on the Samsung Apps store.
The first winner who pocketed a cool US$300,000 created a game called Little Sailor, which is a 3D yacht racing game.
Other winning apps like badaSports, Doogie, Bang, WAMO_Camera, TouchRetouch, Bling-Bling Reader and Parking will receive US$100,000 each.
Samsung expects bada handsets sale to reach 5m by end of this year.
