iPad 2’s thinness and price deemed as challenge for Samsung

Samsung is certainly feeling the heat with the announcement of Apple’s iPad 2. Samsung Mobile’s VP, Lee Don-Joo says “Apple made it [iPad 2] very thin…we will have to improve the parts that are inadequate.”

Apple’s iPad is just 8.8mm thick as compared to Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1’s 10.9mm.

Samsung’s VP also hinted that iPad 2’s price could make them price the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 lower than what they’d expected.

“The 10-inch (tablet) was to be priced higher than the seven-inch but we will have to think that over.”

Later this month, Samsung is expected to unveil a new Galaxy Tab at CTIA expo in USA.

Samsung definitely needs to roll up their sleeves now. Competing with the iPad will not at all be easy. It seems to be a battle between Google and Apple.
