There’s a different type of war ongoing between Samsung and LG these days. Both the companies are embroiled in a verbal war over whose 3D technology is the best. Samsung reckons active shutter technology is superior whereas LG considers its FPR technology will become the standard for 3D viewing in the coming years.
The spate of words exchanged between high-ranking officials of both the companies show they’re serious about gaining supremacy in the nascent 3D market.
BK Yoon, President of Samsung visual display business said “the FPR technology was developed in 1935 and nothing has changed since then,” further adding “not as many players in the global market including those in Japan are using the passive method, acknowledging picture quality problems that would occur on large screens.”
Expectedly, LG refuted the claim and demanded a head-to-head comparison, which was turned down by Samsung saying they would participate only “if an accredited institution participates in the event.”
Another Samsung executive, HS Kim, VP Samsung Digital Media Business wasn’t short of words either who said “LG is making a big deal of such a ridiculous thing.” The exec went a step further to say “LG’s engineers are stupid” because LG Display’s HW Kwon said its TVs support full HD.
Needless to say, this feud is far from over until the result of a head-to-head test.

Whatever it is. Samsung has more technology than LG and it will lead in 3D LED sets.
