Yesterday, Networkworld published a story of a customer claiming his R525 and R540 laptops were rigged by with a keylogger software called StarLogger. This serious breach of privacy worsened when a Samsung tech support guy confirmed to have “put it [software] there to find out how the computer is being used.”
However, Samsung has released a statement refuting the claim. Samsung says the “SL” folder present in the machine belonged to Microsoft’s Live Application multi-language support folder and not StarLogger as reported by the installed security software Vipre.
Microsoft’s Live application installs support folders like “KO” for Korean, “EN” for English, “SL” for Slovak etc.
