Samsung’s newly developed prototype display will pave way for high-resolution displays in the upcoming tablets. They have teamed up with Nouvoyance to demonstrate the industry’s first 10.1-inch WQXGA (2560×1600 pixels) display at the SID Display Week 2011.
The screen boasts a 300dpi, which is more than double to what most tablets currently offer and is said to bring improved text and image clarity.
The display uses Samsung’s PenTile RGBW display technology that helps to achieve a brightness of 300cd/m2 of luminance or up to 600cd/m2 in bright sunlight. Additionally, the display consumes 40 percent less power and has a color gamut of 72 percent.
Samsung expects the commercial availability to be by later this year.
