Samsung has been ordered to provide some devices, marketing materials and packaging to Apple’s legal team in order to “expedited discovery.” The ruling came by Federal Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose who has given Samsung a period of 30 days to hand over the samples of Galaxy S II, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Infuse 4G and Droid Charge along with their packaging and package insert.
Although some of the aforementioned products are already available in the market, Samsung is wary of giving the production samples of unreleased products to its competitor as it “would be prejudicial.” The court understands it which is they’ve ordered to hand the samples only to the outside lawyers representing Apple, Morrison & Foerster.
Apple’s another request for deposition of Samsung employees was turned down saying a deposition “on such a tight timeline, would be unduly burdensome” on the Korean giant.
Apple had filed a case against Samsung claiming its Galaxy devices infringed number of patents related to its iPhone and iPad devices.
