Samsung Mobile Display has entered into a joint venture with Japan-based Ube Industries to produce polyimide substrate for next-generation display. Conventional displays are based on glass substrate but the new displays will be based on polyimide resin, which will allow to manufacture flexible displays. These flexible displays will hopefully be used in upcoming mobile devices.

Both companies will have a 50 percent share in the venture and will invest 194 billion won as the founding capital.
