Here is an interesting demand sought by Samsung lawyers against Apple. In a motion filed by Samsung in U.S. court, the Korean giant is asking for a permission to take a look at Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5 and iPad 3. The reason for taking a peek at Apple’s upcoming lineup is because Samsung’s lawyers “want to evaluate any possible similarities so they can prepare for further potential legal action from Apple.”
This sure is a strange demand from the Korean manufacturer and will be interesting to see if the court will grant their wish. However, the chances for Samsung winning this motion looks pretty because the major difference between Apple’s motion and Samsung is that Apple lawyers will get unreleased yet announced products whereas Samsung lawyers are seeking unannounced as well as unconfirmed products.
On a related note, the Dow Jones Newswire interview with JK Shin, Mr. Shin refutes Apple’s claims of copying design. He even goes onto say that Samsung “has used many similar designs over the past years and it (Apple’s allegation) will not be legally problematic.”
