Despite all the recent differences, Apple is one of Samsung’s largest component buyers. Samsung is responsible for producing A4 and A5 SoC for Apple that are used in iPhone 4 and iPad 2 respectively. However, a new report claims that Apple will move away from Samsung to produce the A6 chip.
Apple will most likely rope in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to produce the ARM-based A6 SoCs that will use foundry’s 28nm fabrication process.
The move is unconfirmed but Ars Technica says the chatter about this deal is “growing deafening.”
