Last time Nexus S’ space expedition was purely for marketing reasons but this time it will be heading up for serious business. NASA’s last space shuttle Atlantis will carry two Nexus S in orbs into the orbit to take some high-resolution photographs, videos and transfer them in real-time.
Spheres orbs generally carry out predetermined tasks from a computer on the International Space Station but with the additional power Nexus S gives, the ground crew will be able to carry out additional tasks.
“The initial experiments to install the phones on the Spheres could happen in September or October,” confirmed DW Wheeler of the Intelligent Robotics Group at NASA’s Ames Research Center.
