In an interview with South Korea’s Yonhap, President of Samsung’s mobile communications and digital imaging, JK Shin revealed some interesting facts about the burgeoning Samsung division.
Samsung had expected to sell around 60 million smartphones in 2011 but Shin expects it to easily surpass it, Galaxy S II being one of the biggest contributors. A total of 300 million Samsung phones are expected to be sold this year.
Shin also confirmed to release “noteworthy” bada handsets this year at the IFA tradeshow in Berlin in September.
Although Shin refrained to comment on the ongoing lawsuits but Shin did say that “we do respond (to lawsuits). But we don’t attack other companies first even though we have a lot of patents.”
Finally, when asked about Samsung’s rumored cloud computing plans, Shin said to “respond” without throwing any more details.
