Samsung PM830 SSD

Samsung has announced mass production of new SSDs that support SATA 3.0 interface with data transmissions at 6Gb/s. Coming in capacities to up to 512GB, Samsung says these high-speed SSDs are apt for high-performance notebooks and tablets. SSD with SATA 6Gb/s support shortens the boot time by about 10 seconds and doubles the performance by giving sequential read speeds of 500MB/s and write speeds of 350MB/s.

The PM830 512GB SSD uses Samsung’s 20nm MLC-based NAND chip integrated with toggle DDR interface. Additionally, the drive offers advanced level encryption with AES 256-bit encryption algorithm.

Samsung plans to replace all SATA 3Gb/s SSDs with SATA 6Gb/s by year-end.
