August 31, 2011 By kunal 2 Comments

Samsung NX200

We’ve been handed over some new info and pictures of the new NX Series digital camera. The NX200 will be the top-end NX Series camera that will feature a 20.3MP APS-C CMOS sensor allowing users to shoot pro quality images in a small form factor. The camera can also shoot continuous images at 7fps and videos at full HD 1080p resolution.

Additionally, NX200 comes with a 3-inch AMOLED display with VGA resolution (640×480), Digital Image Stabilization, Smart Filter, ISO sensitivity up to 12,800, 3D picture and panorama support and iFunction 2.0 that gives real time preview of what the image will look like at different settings.

UPDATE: Looks like Samsung has already got a product page ready. Price $899.99.

The price is considerably more than X100’s msrp. Though it includes nice upgrades (improved sensor, better video, etc.), the accessory port doesn’t seem to be below the hotshoe anymore. Maybe for $900, it includes the 30/2 pancake? That would be nice.

On the other hand, the E-P3 has a touchscreen, faster AF, built-in flash and accessory port below the hotshoe for the same price. The X100 has better sensor though.

The NEX-5N is $200 less and has a tilting touchscreen but has less resolution and dials/buttons.

I’ll wait till I see the official announcement, but still looks like a nice mirroless camera.

Samsung is building up their camera muscles… I do think that Canon and Nikon should pay attention to them. In short time they are not a big threat, but looking to how they are growing in other branches I wouldn’t be to supriced if they turn up with pro gear soon…
