Samsung America has announced the second edition of Free the TV Challenge for developers. Samsung is holding the app contest to celebrate the release of Samsung’s SDK v2.5 and also allow developers to create unique converged apps that works across a number of Samsung devices. For instance, Samsung segregates the Converged Apps categories into three – Controller Apps that allows a second device to control an app on the TV; Companion Apps that uses second device to disseminate additional info; and Interactive Apps that make the second Samsung device as a secondary display.
$225,000 plus Samsung Smart TV and Galaxy Tab 10.1 are up for grabs for the best three apps.
Samsung will announce the winners in Las Vegas at CES 2012.
Similar TV App challenges are open in India, China and Brazil.
