Samsung’s App Store aka Samsung Apps has now completed two years of its service. The store that started in September 2009 with apps for Windows Mobile and Symbian has now expanded to over 40,000 apps available for Google’s Android, Samsung’s own bada OS and Smart TVs.
To celebrate the 2-year anniversary and also the launch of new bada 2.0 OS, Samsung has introduced some new features to the Samsung Apps store. The store’s user interface is now in line with bada 2.0 OS and has also added a billing interface for quicker purchase of apps.
Other features you’d find are the Try’n Play and Rent’n Play that allows users to try out or rent the app for a particular duration (depends on the developer) before purchasing one; Smart App Recommendation that populates apps as per the user’s preferences and usage trends; and Wishlist that is nothing but a list to save interesting apps to purchase or download later.
The Samsung Apps update is available to all Wave devices running bada 2.0 OS and Galaxy devices will get the same by end of this year.
Samsung is also giving 30 paid apps to Wave users for free that includes Fruit Ninja, Plants vs. Zombies etc.
