Samsung to boost software engineer recruitment by 20 percent

Samsung has initiated its first step to enhance its software competitiveness. The chaebol has confirmed to hire more software engineers to keep up with the fierce competition in the mobile industry. Samsung expects to increase the proportion of software engineers to 70 percent from the current 50 percent. Currently, Samsung has around 25,000 employees working on mobile and computer software.

Samsung has been emphasizing on boosting its software competitiveness after Google bought Motorola. Lee Kun-hee had iterated that “IT Power” in the industry has been shifting from a hardware-based company to software-based.
