Korean court last week ordered Samsung to compensate a local designer for copyright infringement. Lee Jong-gil, a graduate from Hongik University sued Samsung Electronics claiming to design flower patterns for Samsung’s Zipel refrigerators which Samsung marketed as design created by a renowned designer, Karen Little.
The court ruled that Lee indeed design the pattern used on the Samsung refrigerator and ordered Samsung to pay 30 million won (US$27,200).
