Samsung now mass producing Optical Sensor in Pixel LCD Panel

Optical Sensor in Pixel Technology

Samsung today announced that they’ve started mass production of a 40-inch LCD panel featuring Optical Sensor in Pixel technology. With the help of this new technology, the panel detects reflected images of an object placed on the panel with integrated infrared sensors. Since each pixel boasts this optical sensor, the end result is quite accurate and can detect more than 50 touch points simultaneously.

Additionally, the display supports full HD resolution, wide-angle viewing and can be used along with different inputs like keyboard and mouse.

Samsung is currently integrating this technology with Microsoft’s Surface panel SUR40 which is on pre-order.
