Dutch court turns down Samsung’s 3G patent infringement claim against Apple

March 15, 2012 By kunal Leave a Comment

The Hague court yesterday rejected Samsung’s 3G patent infringement claim against Apple. The court ruled that Samsung cannot ask for licensing fees from Apple for use of Qualcomm baseband chips since Samsung has a licensing deal with Qualcomm. However, on the bright side, they can claim their rights if Apple uses an Intel chip.

(The) ruling by the Hague court provides Samsung with a legal basis to move forward with the protection of our patent rights. Samsung has and will continue to stand ready to meet its obligations in licensing its technology on fair and reasonable terms.
