South Korea-based Korea Times today ran an article claiming Samsung’s intention to decrease the dependency on Qualcomm for chips. While the move is said to be due to chips’ high profitability, the article also dropped couple of important information related to Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S III.
According to an unnamed Samsung executive, the Android flagship will sport an Exynos quad-core processor along with a single chip supporting both LTE and WCDMA networks. Quad-core processor in Galaxy S III has been rumored for quite some time and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Samsung integrating some of the best technologies in their flagship phone.
Samsung is expected to unveil the phone at a dedicated event in the coming weeks.
