Samsung sued for infringing emoticon patent

March 20, 2012 By kunal Leave a Comment

A company by the name of Varia Holdings Inc. has sued Samsung for infringing a patent related to emoticons. The firm has also sued Samsung’s competitor Research in Motion and alleges that both companies infringe the “concept of allowing users to choose emoticons from a menu of options rather than typing them out one character at a time.”

As Ars Technica points out Samsung devices like Acclaim, Nexus S, Captivate, Epic, Galaxy Nexus and Transform are said to infringe on the said patent.
