Samsung to mass produce Electrowetting Displays in 2013

March 21, 2012 By kunal Leave a Comment

Samsung acquired Netherlands-based Liquavista last year to capitalize on its Electrowetting Display (EWD) technology. However, it seems EWDs won’t be ready for mass production until next year. Speaking at an e-reading & tablet event, Johan Feenstra from Samsung LCD Netherlands R&D Center (SNRC) confirmed that these energy-efficient displays won’t hit mass production until 2013.

Electrowetting displays work are known to offer LCD-like picture quality and consume just 10 percent of the energy compared to a normal LCD.

Samsung’s Electrowetting displays could make its way in future tablets.
