Samsung has announced that they’ve begun sampling of industry’s first 16GB DDR4 memory modules. The new RDIMMs use 30nm class process technology that promises excellent performance with highest density, which is required for the high-end enterprise servers.
Samsung says DDR4 technology will achieve a speed twice the current 1600Mbps DDR3 modules by next year and is power efficient that consumes 1.2V compared to 1.35V with DDR3.
Samsung plans to mass produce the DDR4 modules next year and expand the market with 20nm-based DDR4 products.
