UK Judge rules Galaxy Tab does not infringe Apple iPad patents

July 9, 2012 By kunal Leave a Comment

Galaxy Tab

Although Galaxy Tab 10.1 remains banned in the United States, Samsung has won an important battle against Apple on the other side of the pond. UK Court Judge Colin Birss today ruled that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab does not infringe Apple iPad’s design patents.

The Judge claimed the Galaxy Tab range “do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity” or “are not as cool” as Apple’s tablet offering. Cool or not, this means Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 7.7 will remain on sale in the United Kingdom.

The Court has given Apple 21 days to appeal the decision.

Samsung’s full statement on the verdict can be found on Pocket-Lint.
