New Galaxy S III update removes local search

July 26, 2012 By kunal Leave a Comment

Galaxy S III

Users of international Galaxy S III have started receiving a new OTA update that reportedly kills the local search feature. The XXLG6 is identified as a “stability update” and removes the ability to search the phone for apps, contacts etc. and replaces with the Google’s search app. The move is most likely to preempt from Apple’s patent claim but is surprising to see the feature removed since Apple is yet to assert the patent in regions other than United States.

The update is available over OTA or via Kies.
