Apple has reportedly cut down its dependency on Samsung for the new iPhone’s DRAM and NAND flash memory chips. Korea Economic Daily says although Samsung is in the list of chip suppliers for the upcoming iPhone, the first batch of the device that will be released after the announcement on September 12 will include hardware from Toshiba Corp, Elpida Memory and SK Hynix.
Their source also shot down the obvious speculation that the ongoing lawsuit is the reason for the cutback but claimed that “Apple had already been looking to widen its supply chain”.
