Samsung and Intelligent Decisions (ID) have confirmed that the US Air Force (USAF) has selected Samsung’s Series 7 Slate PC under the new network tablet category. Under the USAF Client Computing and Servers blanket purchase agreement (BPA) which is effective immediately, the Samsung device will be deployed at USAF bases worldwide.
The Series 7 Slate PC was selected because of its ability to provide full functionality of a Windows 7 Pro PC in a compact form factor and the inclusion of a 11.6-inch touchscreen display makes it easier to be used on the move.
Furthermore, the device comes with a Trusted Platform Module 1.2 chip; adheres to Air Force’s Gold Master standards for computing performance due to the Core i5 CPU and 4GB DDR3 RAM; and BIOS is NIST SP800-147-compliant.
