Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S III was the best selling smartphone in Q3 2012, according to research firm Strategy Analytics.
The firm’s numbers suggest Samsung managed to sell whopping 18m Galaxy S IIIs in a single quarter, accounting for about 11 percent of the total smartphone market share.
In comparison, Apple’s iPhone 4S sold an estimated 16.2m units and iPhone 5 about 6m units.
Galaxy S III’s success is attributed to Samsung’s extensive global distribution and operator subsidies.
