UPDATE: Samsung won’t exactly drop the lawsuit but just the sales ban request. Samsung will continue to litigate to seek monetary compensation.

Samsung has confirmed that they’ll drop the ongoing lawsuits against Apple in Germany, UK, France, Italy and the Netherlands. Samsung is withdrawing its case related to standard essential patents and in a statement mailed to Bloomberg, Samsung says they would want to license the patents under a fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms and are withdrawing “in the interest of protecting consumer choice.”

Earlier today, US Judge Lucy Koh rejected Apple’s request to ban sales of Samsung Galaxy devices in US.
