Samsung has announced an upgraded version of its previously available external optical disc drive. In comparison with Samsung’s entry-level DVD writer range, the SE-218CB is 18 percent thinner, 8 percent lighter and is equipped with features like Smart Power Technology that makes the drive consume low-power and even connect the drive to a tablet.
Furthermore, the optical disc drive supports AV Connectivity to play multimedia content onto the tablet, act as a portable hard disk and comes with Smart Archive Technology and Windows 8 and Mac OS support.
Samsung will showcase the drive at CES next week.
