US Judge says Samsung did not infringe patents wilfully

US Judge Lucy Koh has ruled that Samsung hasn’t infringed Apple’s patents wilfully. The jury verdict last August claimed Samsung to infringe seven Apple patents, out of which five were wilful. However, Koh was of the opinion that Apple had to prove Samsung’s intentions to infringe a valid patent and since Samsung argued that Apple’s patents were invalid, an infringement cannot be constituted as wilful.

Also, Koh has turned down Samsung’s request for a new trial saying it “would be contrary to the interests of justice.”
