Sharp today announced that they’ve formed a capital alliance with the Japanese subsidiary of Samsung Electronics. Under the alliance, Samsung will invest 10.4 billion yen (approx. US$112 million) and will receive shares equivalent to 3.08 percent and thus ensure a stable and timely supply of LCD panels from Sharp.

Sharp has been supplying Samsung with large-sized TV panels and small and medium sized LCD panels for mobile devices.

The inflow of cash will also enable Sharp to introduce new display technologies supporting high-definition resolution.
