At the 44th Annual General Meeting in Seoul, Samsung Electronics today named BK Yoon and JK Shin as co-CEOs of the company. This is an interesting move because Samsung Electronics will now have three co-CEOs as Oh-hyun Kwon who was appointed as the CEO last June will continue to retain his position.
Samsung says the appointments are due to strong performance of Mr. Yoon’s and Mr. Shin’s respective businesses. BK Yoon heads the TV business that leads the TV market since 2006 whereas Telecommunications business posted solid growth and holds the number one position in the smartphone market under JK Shin’s leadership.
BK Yoon, JK Shin and Oh-hyun Kwon will continue to oversee their respective divisions of TV, telecommunications and components.
