Samsung is under scrutiny from Taiwan’s Fair Trade Commission for their alleged role in spreading malicious comments online against HTC. The Taiwanese FTC setup an inquiry last week after they received complaints that Samsung has hired students to say bad things about HTC and in return promote their upcoming Galaxy S4 device.
Samsung will be investigated for false advertising and if the allegations are proved right, Samsung and its advertising agency could face a fine of up to US$835,000.
The AFP further says that although Samsung Taiwan isn’t aware of the investigation by the FTC, Samsung Taiwan’s Facebook page posted that they regret “any inconvenience and confusion from the Internet event”.
