Samsung confirms Galaxy S4 with LTE-Advanced

UPDATE: One of the source claims Samsung will name this device as Galaxy S4 LTE-A. Would’ve loved the Galaxy S4 Advance moniker but I guess we’ll know in the coming days.

A Galaxy S4 with 4G LTE-Advanced support has been seen on benchmark and certification sites and now JK Shin, the co-CEO of Samsung Electronics confirmed to Reuters that they’re indeed coming with a Galaxy S4 variant with faster data capability.

Mr. Shin said they’re in talks with some operators and the phone could be sell in South Korea as early as this month.

S4 sales remain strong. It’s selling far stronger than the (Galaxy) S III … and the new LTE-Advanced (4G) phone will be another addition to our high-end segment offerings that ensure healthy profit margins.

The LTE-Advanced variant will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor and will offer data transmission speed up to two times faster than the current 4G LTE variant.

Samsung’s under some pressure after reports of lower than expected sales of the Galaxy S4. However, Mr. Shin last week officially confirmed that the Galaxy S4 is “selling well.”

The upcoming Galaxy S4 will be understandably more expensive than the current Galaxy S4.
