Samsung starts mass producing PCI-Express SSD for notebooks

Samsung XP941 PCIe SSD

Samsung has announced that they’ve initiated the mass production of their PCI-Express (PCIe) based SSDs for the upcoming slim notebook PCs. The XP941 PCIe SSD features an M.2 form factor (80mm x 22mm), weighs 6 grams and available in capacities of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB.

Furthermore, the SSD supports SATA 6Gb/s interface and boasts a sequential read speed of 1400MB/s, which is about 7 times faster than a regular HDD or 2.5 times faster than the fastest SATA SSD.

Samsung also plans to unveil next-generation enterprise NVMe SSDs in the coming weeks.
