Apple is Samsung’s biggest client but over the past couple of years, the scenario was changing due to the legal tussle going on between Apple and Samsung Electronics. Now Korea Economic Daily reports Samsung is back in the game to supply Apple processor for its iPhone expected in 2015. Samsung will reportedly supply Apple A9 chips based on 14nm FinFET process technology.

Samsung last year announced that they were able to successfully tape out some test chips based on the 14nm FinFET process and promises PC-like performance with low power consumption.

The newspaper also notes that Samsung was the sole supplier of the application processor (AP) to Apple since 2007 but roped in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) to supply 20nm A8 APs.

The iPhone with the 14nm AP is expected to be announced in second half of 2015.
