Samsung-made Retina Display could power next iPad mini’s display

Apple’s next-generation iPad mini is expected later this year and it seems they’ve tapped Samsung for its high-resolution display. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the new iPad mini will have a Retina Display and Samsung will most likely be one of the suppliers of the panel.

Apple is known to buy panels from multiple suppliers and the decision to go with Samsung Display was apparently to “ensure adequate supply of screens”.

Apple has been the largest component buyer for Samsung and though the Korean giant has maintained that its components business and mobile devices are two different entities, Apple is actively trying to reduce their dependence on them.
