Samsung’s motion for a new trial over the bounce-back patent has been denied by US District Court judge Lucy Koh. In a ruling that came late evening on Thursday (US time), Lucy Koh denied the motion that Samsung had filed in July.
The jury in the trial in US ruled that 18 of the 20 Samsung products accused by Apple found infringing the bounce-back patent and even awarded a whopping $1.05 billion in damages to Apple. The bounce-back feature gave a rubber-band effect when a user scrolled to the end of the page.
However, in March this year, Koh reduced the damages by $450 million citing “impermissible theory” and ordered a retrial for some products, which is scheduled for November this year.
