We may be away from a ‘true’ flexible display-equipped smartphone but Samsung is trying to bring us one step closer with a curved display smartphone that they’re planning to launch in Q4. D.J. Lee, Samsung’s mobile business head of strategic marketing told Reuters the device will be announced in October in South Korea.
The exact details are unknown at the moment but the new smartphone will not use a flexible display panel but plastic display panels that are strong enough to “neither shatter even when dropped on the ground nor need frames”.
One possible design could be the one you see on the left where the screen is extended to the extreme side that shows notifications.
