UPDATE: Much ado about nothing I guess. Shortly after publishing the release, the company claims the acquisition news is “completely false”.

The news in today’s media that Fingerprint Cards AB has been acquired by Samsung is incorrect.

The previous pressrelease was not sent by Fingerprint Cards AB

Trading in the share has been suspended.

What has happened will be reported to the police and to the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority.

Samsung has bolstered its fingerprint recognition ambition with the acquisition of Sweden-based Fingerprint Cards AB. The board of directors of both the companies have approved the agreement where Samsung will pay $650 million in cash.

The acquisition will help “increase the accessibility of swipe sensor technology”.

Fingerprint Cards will become a new business division within Samsung where the current CEO, Johan Carlström of Fingerprint Cards will be appointed as the president and will report directly to Samsung CEO, Kwon Oh-hyun.

Samsung could use the fingerprint recognition technology in some of its future flagship devices.

Swipe sensor technology is phenomenal in every way and are going to be loved by millions of people around the world
