At the unveiling of the Galaxy Grand 2 in India, we managed to get our hands on the device for a brief moment. The successor to the original Galaxy Grand packs some changes, most notably in the display and the CPU department. The Galaxy Grand 2 now sports a 5.25-inch HD display (1280×720) display and a powerful 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor along with 1.5GB of RAM. With our brief use of the device, we found it to fairly responsive without showing any signs of lags.
Another highlight of the Galaxy Grand 2 is that it tries to emulate the looks and some features of its elder sibling – Galaxy Note 3. The phone features a similar soft touch faux leather finish at the back and even boasts some features like My Magazine and new improved Multi Window, both of which are missing in the Android 4.3 build of Galaxy S4.
The Galaxy Grand 2 that will be sold in India will be dual-SIM device, support HSPA+ and will come with an 8 megapixel camera with Sound & Shot, a front-facing 1.9 megapixel camera, GPS, microSD card slot and 2600mAh battery.
The Galaxy Grand 2 is also the first device to features the Club Samsung app. The app will enable users to easily find localised content based on their present location. Galaxy Grand 2 users will get the first three months of streaming music and video.
Samsung will release the phone in January in a price range of Rs. 22,900 to Rs. 24,900.
