In a bid to make the home ‘smarter’ Samsung has announced a new Smart Home service that enables Smart TVs, home appliances, smartphones and other devices to connect to each other through a single platform. The Smart Home consists of three main features: Device Control, Home View and Smart Customer Service. Device Control will enable users to adjust settings on their mobile phones or Smart TV to monitor or control home devices. For instance, users will be able to turn on their ACs or lighting remotely or when a user says ‘going out’ to the Galaxy Gear, the connected lighting and appliances automatically switch off.
Home View is another feature that allows users to remotely check their homes in real-time with connected device’s camera while the Smart Customer Service assists users to service their devices.
Samsung plans to showcase the service at CES 2014 with the commercial launch expected sometime in H1 2014 and gradually opening up the service for non-Samsung devices and home appliances.
