Samsung’s new Magazine UX and its set of services were a clear indication that the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer was trying to distinguish itself in a hyper-competitive Android market.
But if Re/code’s latest report is to be believed, Samsung will slow down its customisations on the Android OS, thanks to Google.
According to the site’s source, the relationship between Samsung and Google has gone a “huge change, a sea change in the last few weeks.” Although the exact details are still a mystery, their sources suggest that post discussions, Samsung could “consider dumping or altering the Magazine UX interface” and push Google’s content services instead of Samsung’s own.
Magazine UX was introduced in the new Galaxy Tab/Note PRO series and was even rumoured to feature in upcoming Samsung smartphones. As for the services, Samsung has been beefing up with its Samsung Hub service that gives users access to movies, music, books and games.
The reason is believed to put Samsung in line with Google’s vision of Android OS, which had taken a new turn in the past few months.
