Samsung has officially announced two new Exynos processors that will make its way in the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 Neo smartphones. First is the new Exynos 5422 in the Exynos 5 Octa family which will be integrated in select models of Galaxy S5. The new octa-core processor is equipped with four big Cortex-A15 cores that has a clock speed of up to 2.1GHz and four small Cortex-A7 cores clocked at up to 1.5GHz.
Samsung says the new processor delivers up to 34 percent improved performance over the previous Exynos 5 Octa models and features big.LITTLE HMP technology that combines all eight cores for a performance boost.
Furthermore, Exynos 5422 supports high resolution displays like WQHD (2560 x 1440) and WQXGA (2560 x 1600), 4K resolution support, proprietary mobile image compression (MIC) and adaptive hibernation technology and power savings of 10 percent.
The next chip is the Exynos 5 Hexa that will power up the recently announced Galaxy Note 3 Neo. The Exynos 5260 boasts six CPU cores with the bigger Cortex-A15 dual-cores clocked at 1.7GHz while the smaller Cortex-A7 quad-core clocked at 1.3GHz.
This one also supports to HMP technology to take advantage of all the cores and results in a 42 percent performance improvement over the previous Exynos dual-core processors.
The SoC supports embedded Display Port (eDP) interface, up to WQXGA (2560 x 1600) display resolution, memory bandwidth of up to 12.8GB/s, Full HD (1080p) video playback at up to 60fps and more.
