Samsung has confirmed that its Gear Fit wearable device has been awarded the Best Mobile Device by the GSMA – organisers of the Mobile World Congress trade show. Gear Fit was awarded by GSMA on account of the device’s innovation and creativity and it’s safe to say that this device attracted more attention than Samsung’s Galaxy S5 smartphone that was announced at the same Unpacked event.
The Gear Fit is smaller than the Gear 2 and is mainly targeted at fitness enthusiasts. It comes with a heart rate sensor at the back and integrates a pedometer, sleep tracker and is IP67 certified for dust and water resistance.
The device is also capable of notifying of incoming SMS, calls and email and sports the industry’s first 1.84-inch curved AMOLED display (432×128). The smartwatch has a battery life of up to 4 days.
Samsung will release the Gear Fit on April 11 alongside the Galaxy S5, Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo.
