Samsung has confirmed that its home automation service – Smart Home will first be launched in the South Korean and US market. After syncing with the Samsung account, consumers will be able to control multiple devices simultaneously through the Smart Home app. As an example, Samsung says a user can simply say “Good Night” to the TV remote control and connected devices within the home such as the Smart Bulb and air conditioners could be set-up to automatically turn off.
The app will be downloadable from Samsung Apps and Google Play Store and will be available soon for Gear 2 devices that runs on Tizen and 2014 Samrt TV models.
Products supporting the service will vary according to the region and in South Korea, it will work initially with the Q9000 AC, Bubbleshot 3 W9000 washing machine, all 2014 Smart TV models, Samsung Gear 2 and Android devices running Android 4.0 and above.
As for the US, the compatible product list includes a Smart French Door Refrigerator, Smart Front Loading Washing Machine, all 2014 Smart TV models, Samsung Gear 2 and smartphones running Android 4.0 and above.
Support for Smart Bulb and Smart Ovens will be added in Q2 2014 along with the “good night” voice recognition.
