Samsung pushes Tizen update to Galaxy Gear, makes it a Gear sans Galaxy

Tizen Galaxy Gear

The Galaxy nomenclature in the Samsung portfolio signifies that the device is powered by Android. However, this will change with the latest update that Samsung is pushing to the original Galaxy Gear device (SM-V700). The software version is 2.2.0 and as SamMobile points out, users won’t feel that much of a difference except some improvements in the battery life department and the ability to use the Galaxy Gear as a standalone music player.

The CNE9 update is rolling out as we speak and is available over Kies.
